I recently was asked to shoot the new line by Glamour Kills and Cobra Starship’s Gabe Saporta, OVERNIGHT SENSATION. The shoot took place in Chelsea, NY with Gabe & friends and the creative genius of GK. The line is amazing, I’m in love with the Wolf Geek T.
Gabe had a huge hand in the shoot which was great – we were bouncing ideas of each other when needed, he had a good idea of what he wanted, his ideas were solid, & we went for it. Everyone on set was amazing, the shoot was full of positivity.
What we shot is a different style of light than what I’m mostly know for, but it was what was the best way to show the lifestyle of this line. My normal light was a bit too “pretty” for Overnight Sensation. As a people photographer, it’s about people and connecting to your subject. I am technically trained, I can shoot in any style and its easy for me to see light and shape it. I currently enjoy the light I’ve been playing with that makes up my portfolio, it keeps me challenged and it keeps the blood hot and pumping. I love expressing myself through light, I love doing things differently, and I love switching it up. For this light setup we went for simple, direct, sexy, in your face, and to the point …like the line.
I first met Gabe shooting Cobra Starship for AP Magazine last year, and since then we worked on their current myspace together and now OS. Gabe and Glamour Kills are pretty sensational to work for and I am excited to be part of the release of one of the sickest new lines in ‘09.

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing pop stars Boys Like Girls for the October Issue of Alternative Press Magazine. The shoot was hysterical, I had a lot of fun, and got an enormous amount of great shots. The guys were up for anything, so we were able to play around with different set ups. Meeting them its not hard to see that BLG loves their fans & they love what they do. They are extremely passionate about their music and their message, with a great vibe, and entertaining stories.
The Boys Like Girls crew is exactly who they are, no fake airs, no bullsh*t, which is always refreshing and it makes for an amazing shoot with total freedom. They’ve been touring for a few years straight and will continue to hit the road with the release of their new album Love Drunk.
Another ridiculous cut from Cobra Starship is setting them up for super stardom this year, When Good Girls Go Bad starring Leighton Meester from the television show Gossip Girl.
And while you’re there check out my photo as their banner. Cobra Starship is not only talented, fun and quite the stylish group of musical materminds, they are also hilarious & smart. Every fan that I’ve met is in love with their music, the band….the whole image, and having worked with them, all the love and fame is very much deserved. Cobra Starship is super respectful to the creative people that they work with, I love that they have sought me out for current projects.
The new album Hot Mess is going to be off the chain!!
Gabe Saporta had this to say about our shoot:
“The shoot we did with Carrie was amazing. I must admit I was a bit skeptical at first because her last name is Schechter and I went to High School by that name and I hated it. But Carrie was so fun to work with. I mean, we’re ridiculously good-looking and all, but Carrie made us look better than ever. She gave us great direction, as opposed to just standing there and shooting us without saying a word. Her vibe was great, so we were totally comfortable, had a blast and it totally shows in the photos.”
Check out Forever the Sickest Kids Limited Edition DVD/CD release of their album Underdog Alma Mater on Universal Motown Records (Universal Rocks). Open up the jacket and vwa-la, you’re own little mini poster of one of my photos…and of the band too of course.
I hear the new album is going amazing, I can’t remember what phase they are in at the moment, but I’m sure it will kill when its released. I just have to say, I have been extremely fortunate with the groups I’ve shot, they’ve all been amazing people, and a bunch of them & I have become good friends.
FTSK was such an awesome group of guys, they made us laugh, they were super respectful of the studio and crew, they are lighthearted and just all in all amazing people. Best luck to you guys on the new album!!
Moscow was AMAZING!!! I have a full page with all the juicy details and fabulous stories. I had a wonderful time, and I’d love to again thank the Ministerio Della Belleza, who found me a year ago and invested so much time, heart, and money into giving me a wonderful experience and show. Also thanks to my Russian hosts, George (my translator on TV), David, Giga, And of course Andre and Anya, Gallery N and Club Manon. Moscow you treated me like a princess and I love you and am so grateful. I’m part Romanian, so next time I go to Russia I foresee a fabulous shoot in the hills there.
Watch my Russian TV debut!! I missed the other show I was on, but I didn’t eat much over there (I’m vegan) so I was battleing some wardrobe malfuncitions in my outfit that day…. so its probably a good thing I haven’t seen it.
See you in Venice for my show during the Venice Film Festival at the Bauer this September.
Here are some of my photographs from round one with Tina Parol from Universal Motown Records.
I shot her new single cover (below) & you can see the rest of them everywhere including her new t-shirts and other merch. Round two of our shoot (not pictured here) was finished last night and passed to her label this morning, as soon as I have permission to show them and what they are for – I surely will.
Tina is amazing – her voice.. her spirit .. her everything. I am so excited to watch her career skyrocket to super stardom. Her song writing is inspirational and gets your booty shaking, her music is addictive as is her personality; she’s smart, she’s sexy, she’s down to earth, she’s fierce and shes going to be the next hot thing.
**I have stopped updating my website with new work since my new and amazing website is almost complete, and everything is sized differently (thank you Bo!!!) Can’t wait to show all the new work & launch the new site.
Just wrapped up the image for the Forever the Sickest Kids posters for their tour this spring/summer/winter & some new web banners for them. Love the band, love the label, love it all. They’ll be doing some shows with Tina Parol (whom I just shot), Tina also might be on the next AAR tour.(whom I also shot)
I had the opportunity to shoot one of the hottest new vocalists on the scene right now for her new single & publicity photos for Universal Motown Records. Tina Parol is young, fresh, fabulous, HOT, and smart beyond her years. She has already written songs for Brittany Spears (new Circus album), Timbaland, Danga, done backing vocals on other radio cuts, and now she paves the way for her new fresh sound soon to take over the airwaves….did I mention she just turned 21 a few weeks ago? I absolutely love her, and I think her first album will go double platinum quickly. Her whole team is made up of some of the best people in the industry & I think if ‘perfect opportunity’ had a baby… it would be Tina.
If my brains thoughts looked like a sketch pad, there would be a heart around the words Universal Motown Records – everyone that works with them that I’ve met is pretty much perfect. This time I got to work with the charismatic and sensational Tracy Zamot. There will be more to come as images get finalized and the shoot evolves, welcome to phase one.
All I can say is their music is killer and I love them them as people. They put everything they have into every show and leave their hearts on the stage when they leave. If you don’t have their album – get it! Suffer City is available everywhere, their label is amazing, their PR group is top notch and I can’t say enough amazing things about Rico from American Recordings.
