Moscow was AMAZING!!! I have a full page with all the juicy details and fabulous stories. I had a wonderful time, and I’d love to again thank the Ministerio Della Belleza, who found me a year ago and invested so much time, heart, and money into giving me a wonderful experience and show. Also thanks to my Russian hosts, George (my translator on TV), David, Giga, And of course Andre and Anya, Gallery N and Club Manon. Moscow you treated me like a princess and I love you and am so grateful. I’m part Romanian, so next time I go to Russia I foresee a fabulous shoot in the hills there.
Watch my Russian TV debut!! I missed the other show I was on, but I didn’t eat much over there (I’m vegan) so I was battleing some wardrobe malfuncitions in my outfit that day…. so its probably a good thing I haven’t seen it.
See you in Venice for my show during the Venice Film Festival at the Bauer this September.
I had the opportunity to shoot one of the hottest new vocalists on the scene right now for her new single & publicity photos for Universal Motown Records. Tina Parol is young, fresh, fabulous, HOT, and smart beyond her years. She has already written songs for Brittany Spears (new Circus album), Timbaland, Danga, done backing vocals on other radio cuts, and now she paves the way for her new fresh sound soon to take over the airwaves….did I mention she just turned 21 a few weeks ago? I absolutely love her, and I think her first album will go double platinum quickly. Her whole team is made up of some of the best people in the industry & I think if ‘perfect opportunity’ had a baby… it would be Tina.
If my brains thoughts looked like a sketch pad, there would be a heart around the words Universal Motown Records – everyone that works with them that I’ve met is pretty much perfect. This time I got to work with the charismatic and sensational Tracy Zamot. There will be more to come as images get finalized and the shoot evolves, welcome to phase one.
Check out my shoot with actress Alexis Dziena (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Fool’s Gold) in London’s very own Total Film Magazine. You can also find more about our photos on her fan site. (this is a different image than the one that is running, I haven’t seen which one they chose, so I chose for now.)
A few months ago on a super hot day in Brooklyn, I had the pleasure of shooting the incredible rock pop sensation the All-American Rejects for Interscope Records and Olympus Audio. I have another shoot with them to be released in November for an editorial spread for the one and only AP Magazine. The people at Interscope Records are just amazing, they treat everyone around them like family, especially the band. There was a lot of love in the room, and nothing makes a shoot better than working for people you believe in. AAR is amazing, they were down for anything at any moment. It was a total dream.
You can find the pictures for Interscope circulating around magazines and other promotional material, and you can find the international Olympus ads everywhere their audio is sold and in most Guitar Centers. Olympus was also a true class act, they are extremely positive people that are super accommodating and care so much about the band and about Interscope, and everyone involved, I was beyond impressed with them as individuals and as a collective.
The day was wild with splitting shooting between the guys filming their commercial for Nike’s human race, not to mention 6 setups in studio and 2 more on location in a 6 hour period made this one heck of an adventure. I shoot extremely quickly to begin with, and I rarely stay on a setup for more than 15 minutes especially with this kind of a schedule. My assistants main job is maintaining the stop watch, and giving me 5 minute marks, until we get down to 3min-2min-next set change. Everyone on this team was amazing, especially the guys from Oklahoma, they are hysterical and total sweethearts. The quote of the day.. ”That’s what she said.”
Some months ago I had the amazing opportunity to shoot top notch actress Leslie Bibb for an article about her role in the film Iron Man for AP Magazine. It was tons of fun, Leslie is incredibly full of life, and when she left, the entire team couldn’t stop gushing about her, someone exclaimed – “I think I just got drunk on a tall shot of Ms Bibb.”
On October 10th and 11th Leslie will be hosting the Barack Obama Fundraiser in Vegas, and make appearances in The California one as well. Her agents recommended my shots of Leslie for the invites and fliers. Of course I jumped at the chance.
My photography is how I speak to the world. I am thrilled to be able to be apart of this for Obama, and I am thrilled that in some small way I fell like I have an extra voice in supporting something I believe in through Leslie. Thank you Leslie!
Before the this blog began I was hired by AP Magazine to shot the beautiful, sweet, talented and fabulous Alexis Dziena for promotion for her role in the movie Fool’s Gold. [Read AP's article here. ] She was in the midst of filming Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist (out in October), and we were challenged with the ever changing production schedule of the film to get some one on one time with Alexis. Alexis arrived on set with her sweetheart Nick (front man for the band Lexicon), and we took some couple shots for fun when we finished AP’s setups.
I love seeing people succeed, and I think Nick & Norah’s will be another hit for Ms Dziena.
On new stands now – Alternative Press Magazine’s August issue. This month’s “screening” section, I was given the privilege to shoot Zoe Kazan. I’ve mentioned all her accomplishments earlier in the blog, so lets just say – I hope Zoe kick’s ass and take no prisoners in current movie August, and upcoming movies:
Revolutionary Road
Me & Orson Wells
The Private Lives of Pippa Lee
Zoe is incredible person to work with, and I look forward to cheering her on for all her upcoming successes!
Check the July 2008 issue of Alternative Press Magazine for my shots of actress Zoe Kazan. She’s in upcoming movies August with Josh Hartnett, and Revolutionary Road with Leonardo DiCaprio.
Zoe comes for a prestigious line of creative talent. Grandfather Elia Kazan, known for directing Street Car Named Desire, Gentleman’s Agreement & On the Water to name a few, Zoe’s mother is writer, producer Robin Swicord (screenplay/Memoirs of a Geisha), and father, writer, producer, director Nicholas Kazan (screenplay Homegrown).
Zoe is sassy and intelligent and was a pleasure to shoot. Her talents, her independence and her strength of spirit are going to be great support to her during her amazing ride into Hollywoods legends.
